Direct contact with nature, customs and traditions are the source of Maremma’s finest gourmet products.
The highlights are its six DOC wines, from the famous Morellino di Scansano to the Bianco di Pitigliano, from the Parrina of Sovana, the Ansonica Costa dell’Argentario of Capalbio.
With the well-being of its guests always in mind, Terme di Saturnia bases its award-winning cuisine on typical regional produce, often of organic or biodynamic origin. These include wine, IGP extra-virgin Tuscan olive oil, DOP Tuscan pecorino, honey, Maremman saffron and Sorano beans.
Particularly crucial are the Slow Food Presidia that support endangered small traditional production, promoting regions, supporting ancient occupations and working methods, saving indigenous breeds from extinction and maintaining the variety of fruit and vegetables that the Maremma offers: Orbetello Botargo (a method of preserving mullet), the sfratto dei Goym of Pitigliano and Sorano (a biscuit of Jewish origin), the Maremmana breed of cattle and Tuscan Sea Palamita (Atlantic Bonito).
